Overview

The USA Rugby South High School Regional Championship (USARSHSRC) will be held at Kennesaw State University (KSU) on two fields in the new KSU Sports Complex. One of these fields (Field #3) is the KSURFC Rugby Pitch dedicated year round to rugby only. The other field (Field #3) is a brand new Tournament Field located 200 yards from the KSURFC Rugby Pitch. Both fields are Sports Turf so short spikes or molded cleats are strongly encouraged. We will have access to state of the art facilities, restrooms, concessions stand, meeting / staging areas, and small bleachers. All teams and fans are encouraged to bring folding chairs to watch the Tournament.

Waivers

                Participating players (Parents if the player is a minor) and Coaches will be required to submit signed Participation Waivers and Participation Agreements at Registration to be permitted to play. If the player is a minor and a Parent is not accompanying them, they should sign it PRIOR to traveling. These Participation Waivers will be emailed to the registered Coach’s email address no later than Wednesday, May 2, 2012. 

Pre-Registration

                Pre-Registration will be held in the Large Team Room at the Owls Nest (3220 George Busbee DR, Kennesaw, GA 30144) from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM, on Friday, May18, 2012. At this time, a representative from your team can sign in and turn in your Participation Waivers (one for USA Rugby / USA Rugby South / GHSRA and one for KSU) and pick up your Participation Packet. The Participation Packet will include a complete schedule of events, a map of the area, Restaurants, coupons, and participating Sponsor’s information.

Registration

                Registration will be held at 8:15 AM, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Tournament Table located in the Team Staging Area #1 (0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144) in the Participation Packet. Teams are strongly encouraged to register early at the Pre-Registration on Friday evening, May 18, 2012.

Fees

• Club Participation Fee: The Club Participation Fee is $200 and is due upon acceptance of your bid. The check should be made out to the GHSRA (Georgia High School Rugby Association) and invoices will be provided to each of your Clubs for your records. This fee will include 25 Weekend Tournament Entry Passes. These passes will allow players and three Support Staff to come and go through the gates throughout the Tournament weekend. All of the 25 Tournament Entry Pass holders will need to have a photo ID with them throughout the weekend. If you have a minor with no form of photo ID, arrangements can be made.
• Tournament Entry Passes: Everyone attending the USARSHSRC with the exception of the Participating Clubs and three Support Staff as well as USA Rugby Staff, USA Rugby South Officers, GHSRA Officers, USARSHSRC Volunteer Staff, and Kennesaw State University Students and Faculty, will be required to pay for an Entry Pass. A Daily Tournament Entry Pass will cost $3 and a Weekend Tournament Entry Pass will cost $5. The proceeds from Tournament Entry Passes will go to the GHSRA to help pay for the Tournament

Facilities (Gates will open at 8:00 AM, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, and at 8:00 AM, on Sunday May 20, 2012)

• Owls Nest located at 3220 George Busbee DR, Kennesaw, GA 30144: The Large Team Room located in the Owls Nest will be the location of the Pre-Registration.
• Field #6 (Tournament field) located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: Both fields are Sports Turf so short spikes or molded cleats are strongly encouraged.
• Field #3 (KSURFC Rugby Pitch) located at 3200 George Busbee PKWY, Kennesaw, GA 30144: Both fields are Sports Turf so short spikes or molded cleats are strongly encouraged.
• Bleachers (Tournament Field and KSURFC Rugby Pitch): Small bleachers are located at both fields so spectators are encouraged to bring folding chairs.
• Concessions Stand located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This will offer concessions for the duration of the Tournament. The money generated will go entirely to the 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Georgia High School Rugby Association. There will be picnic tables for eating located in front of the Concessions Stand.
• Concessions Tent located at 3200 George Busbee PKWY, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This will offer concessions for the duration of the Tournament. The money generated will go entirely to the 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Georgia High School Rugby Association.
• Team Staging Area#1 located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This area is dedicated to Team Tents and gathering for Field #6. This area is located behind and around the picnic tables at Field #6.
• Team Staging Area#2 located at located at 3200 George Busbee PKWY, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This area is dedicated to Team Tents and gathering for Field #3. This area is located behind and around the bleachers at Field #3.
• Tournament Table located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This table will have registration, bracket postings, scores, and general information about the Tournament.
• Recruitment Tables located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: These tables will have representatives from Men’s Clubs, Women’s Clubs, and Collegiate Clubs from around the South who will be trying to recruit and inform players for and about their Clubs.
• 24-Seven Apparel / Rugby 24-Seven / Pro Sports Resources located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: This tent will have all of the rugby gear that you could possibly want, Tournament T-shirts, as well as great team kit offers. They will be donating the Tournament rugby balls, all Tournament T-shirt proceeds, and a portion of the weekend’s general sales to the GHSRA

Parking 

• Owls Nest located at 3220 George Busbee DR, Kennesaw, GA 30144: Parking for Pre-Registration is located directly in front of the Owls Nest.
• Field #6 (Tournament Field) located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: Parking will be accessible in the Sports Park Parking Lot if you would like to park beside this field. This will be where the Tournament Table for Registration is located.
• Field #3 (KSURFC Rugby Pitch) located at 3200 George Busbee PKWY, Kennesaw, GA 30144: Parking will be accessible in the Lower Stadium Lot if you would like to park beside this field

Security

• Field #6 (Tournament Field) located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144: There will be a Kennesaw State University Police Officer working security at this field for the duration of the Tournament.
• Field #3 (KSURFC Rugby Pitch) located at 3200 George Busbee PKWY, Kennesaw, GA 30144: There will be a Kennesaw State University Police Officer working security at this field for the duration of the Tournament

Accommodations 

We have negotiated with different hotels in the area to maximize comfort and affordability. I have encouraged the Clubs to stay at recommended hotels based on their needs to offer a more customized experience.

Awards Presentation (located at 0390 Big Shanty RD, Kennesaw, GA 30144)

The USA Rugby South High School Regional Championship Awards Presentation will be held following the final match on Sunday, May 20^th, 2012, on the mid-field of the Field #6 (Tournament Field). All Awards and Final Standings will be presented as well as a general announcement for next year’s Tournament.
